Business Advisor and Student Roles

Business Advisors help you achieve your academic goals through a concept of shared responsibility and equal partnership. Advisors will share their knowledge, provide support, and collaborate with you throughout your academic journey. Advisees (you) are responsible for your educational choices and decisions. As part of the shared responsibility held by you and the advisors, when determining what to take in an upcoming semester, you are asked to create your semester schedule. Once you have your tentative schedule created you may reach out to a business advisor and request a review of your schedule.

The Business Advisor's role is to:

  • Provide accurate and consistent information on major and degree requirements.
  • Collaborate with students by providing guidance rather than by simply directing.
  • Facilitate relationships between the student and resources offered by the University.

The student's role is to:

  • Prepare for advising sessions and bring the appropriate resources and materials. You are to maintain your own educational plan & semester schedules using the resources provided to you.
  • Understand and utilize your Titan Degree Audit (TDA), Requirement Sheet & Roadmap, and other university resources available to you.
  • Become a creator of your own experiences, by taking responsibility for your actions that impact your ability to achieve your academic goals and be accountable for your decisions.
