Business Peer Mentoring Program

The College of Business and Economics will offer a Business Peer Mentoring program for Fall 2025 - Spring 2026. The purpose of this program is to help students engage in meaningful relationships with a peer mentor.

Become a Peer Mentor: Empower Future Leaders!

Are you a passionate and accomplished business student looking to make a positive impact on your peers? Do you have a wealth of knowledge and experiences to share? Would you like to provide a supportive environment and share your knowledge and college experiences? 

As a Business Peer Mentor you will facilitate activities (individual meetings and social events) that help your mentees increase their self-efficacy and resilience, strengthen their connection to the university and the college, and learn how to navigate resources. Join our Peer Mentor program and become a guiding light for aspiring business professionals in higher education.

How it Works for Mentors:

    • Deadline: Apply by June 30, 2025
    • Pay Rate: $16.50 per hour / 5 hours a week (flexible)
    • Position Time Commitment: Fall 2025 & Spring 2026

Requirements

    • Have current U.S. work authorization
    • Be a current undergraduate business major at CSUF enrolled in a minimum of seven units for Fall 2025.
    • Considered matriculated at time of employment and completed at least one semester at CSUF
    • Completed at least one semester at CSUF
    • Be in good academic standing (not on academic notice, continued notice, academic disqualification), and maintain a 2.0 in all GPAs (major, concentration, cumulative, and CSUF).
    • Have declared a concentration
    • Attend Mandtory Meetings/Training
      • Fridays (tentatively 11:00am-12:00pm)

Become a Peer Mentee: Embark on a Transformative Journey

Are you a business student who is a first time freshmen in your first semester eager to excel in your academic journey? Do you wish to receive personalized guidance and support from experienced peer mentors who have successfully navigated the challenges of a business major? Look no further! Our Peer Mentee program is designed to empower you, foster your growth, and ensure your success. Join our Peer Mentee Program and embark on a transformative journey towards academic excellence, professional growth, and personal development.

How it Works for Mentees:

    • Deadline: July 31, 2025
    • Time Committment:
      • 30 minutes biweekly with a peer mentor
      • Fall 2025
    • Interest Form: Fill out a Mentee Interest Form

Eligibility Criteria:

    • First-year freshmen students, who will start at CSUF Fall 2025
    • College of Business and Economics major

 

Faculty Mentoring

Once you have declared your concentration, you are eligible to participate in the Faculty Mentoring Program. You will be assigned a faculty mentor for the upcoming semester and are expected to meet with your mentor. By meeting with your faculty mentor you will gain insight from experienced professionals, gain access to career path guidance, and discuss new industry trends. You can discuss topics like selecting the right electives for you, experiential learning courses, and how your courses can benefit your career goals.

When you receive an invitation to meet with your faculty mentor, it is important that you meet during the mentoring period.

The goals of the Faculty Mentoring program are:

  • To ensure your study plan aligns with your academic and career goals
  • To ensure you understand the success resources available to you, and to encourage you to be proactive in accessing those resources (e.g., business advising, career advising, tutoring)
  • To provide you with an opportunity to build relationships with peers and faculty to strengthen your social connections on campus.

The faculty from each discipline in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information Systems, Management, and Marketing are excited to meet with you and are committed to your support, growth, and graduation. So get connected with your faculty mentor early by completing your lower-division business core requirements as soon as possible and declaring your concentration.
